Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention | According to the Centers for Disease Control, “cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States; one in every three deaths is from heart disease and stroke. This equals 2,200 deaths per day. 50-60% of people who have a cardiovascular event (heart attack, stroke, or sudden death) have been previously classified as low to intermediate risk by traditional risk factors like family history, cigarette smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes, among others. Many people who suffer a heart attack have “normal” cholesterol levels, eat healthy, exercise and have no significant family history of heart disease. How can we affect these dismal statistics? The Cenegenics Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program (HDSP) is the place to start.
